Deep Sky with C8

Well, just yesterday I bought a T-ring connector to use The Canon at the prime focus of the C8.
I have been so lucky because the night has been fantastic here in Binningen! For the first time I have left the telescope open with the corrector glass completely exposed all the nigh (from 9pm to 5am) and no sign of dew at all! I decided to work on M81 (the Bode Galaxy) and M51 (the Whirlpool Galaxy) again, to compare the new results with those obtained in the biggyback fashion...

Whirlpool galaxy 10/03/2013

Four days ago I  spent a couple of hours to take 160 x 30 sec photos of the Whirlpool galaxy M51. I made it putting a Canon 1100D camera on my Celestro C8 SC telescope in piggyback position. Unlikely the night was very wet, so after 20 min the camera lens was completely covered with dew. Nevertheless 40 frames were good enough to create this image:

40x30 sec frames , 30 dark, f / 5.6 , ISO 800 , macro 300mm

This is my first picture done in a proper piggyback asset, with the Canon mounted upon the C8, tracking the stars but with no guiding system.
